Bulawayo Markets Analysis 15 May 2023

As we start a new week, farmers continue to supply different types of commodities into the market from different areas of the country. 

Leaf vegetables continue to be in low supply. Today a bundle of covo was sold at $3-4,, rape $2.50-3 per bundle, tsunga $3 per bundle and cabbages remain unchanged at $1-1.50 each. The major supplying areas were Esigodini, Insiza, Hamara farm and Mguza.

Tomatoes had a good supply and  a 30kg plastic sandak was pegged $20-28 depending on quality.

The major supplying areas were Figtree, Drummond farm, Hamara farm, Birchenough and Macheke.

Potatoes were going between $7-11 depending on pocket size. The major supplying areas were Harare, Beatrice, Gweru and Nyanga.

At Shasha market, there was a good supply of sweet potatoes from areas such as Masvingo, Gokwe and Chipinge.

Price per 20l bkt was pegged at $4-5.

A bundle of sugarcane had a selling price of $3-4. The major supplying area was Chiredzi.

Butternuts were available with the price of $5-6 per 10kg pocket and the supplying areas were Hamara farm and Shamva.

There was a good supply of Macimbi at Malaleni market from areas such as Plumtree and Kezi. A 20l bkt of Macimbi was sold at $26-30.

Rutenga continue to be to be the major supplying area of fresh roundnuts. Price per 20l bkt remain constant at $12-14.

Shelled groundnuts were sold at $18-20 per bkt and unshelled groundnuts had a selling price of $5-6 per bkt. The major supplying areas were Gokwe and Masvingo.

Sugar beans were sold at $20-22 per bkt and the major supplying areas were Nyanga and Guruve.
